Tip:

At long last, the report from Gerard Bouchard and Charles Taylor on reasonable accommodation in Quebec has been released, and provides a wealth of story ideas for reporters covering religion in Canada.  For an abridged pdf of the full report, check out this webpage for "Building the Future: A Time for Reconciliation".   Bear in mind that the Commission was launched out of concerns in Quebec over Muslim headscarves, Sikh kirpans, and the possibility of sharia law coming to Canada….so the implications of accommodating religious practices, values, traditions and rights are analyzed within the framework of Canadian society and national values.  Here is the website:

Notes:

The Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada is one of the largest evangelical denominations in Canada with almost 500 churches and 65,605 members stretching from Whitehorse, Yukon to Sydney, Nova Scotia. The French language churches number 70, with worship services across Canada being held in 13 different languages.

The Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches was formed in 1953 by the merging of the Union of Regular Baptist Churches of Ontario and Quebec (founded in 1927) and the Fellowship of Independent Baptist Churches (1933). To this fellowship have been added the two western groups of Regular Baptist Churches: The churches of The Regular Baptist Missionary Fellowship of Alberta joined the Fellowship in 1963 and the Convention of Regular Baptist Churches of British Columbia was received in 1965.

The denomination has eight churches in Manitoba.
