Notes:

Sikhism is a monotheistic religion which holds as basic tenets the equality of mankind, the equality of men and women, and the fundamental equality of all religions. "Sikh" means a 'disciple' or 'learner', in Sikhism, it means 'seeker of truth'. It originated in the late 1400s in Northern India and was founded by Guru Nanak (the first of 10 Sikh Gurus) who taught that religion was simply one pathway to God, and as long as one was true to his/her religion, it did not matter what path an individual chose.

There are approximately 400,000 Sikhs in Canada; there are about 9,000 to 10,000 in Manitoba.
